Helping Black women in healthcare create purpose-led lives, careers & businesses so they can thrive

There’s a silent crisis emerging among
Black women in healthcare

Many of us are suffering in silence - especially since Black women are often devalued, dismissed and disrespected in healthcare spaces.

For decades, many of us in these fields have been told to hide the most beautiful, diverse parts of ourselves - our gender, race and motherhood - in order to achieve “success”...

...and it’s wreaking havoc on our souls, because the truth is, these identities aren’t roadblocks.

They are our strengths.

“Is this what I worked so hard for?”

That’s the question you might be asking yourself right about now.

The battles you fight in your rigorous career - gender bias, racial discrimination and pay inequity - often require you to put on protective armor and appear almost invincible.

The sacrifices you feel forced to make in your personal life keep you questioning your decisions and even your sanity.

Time feels fleeting and you never have enough of it to do the things you want.

Your spouse and children may crave more of your presence.

Friends and family outside of medicine may not be able to fully relate to all the pressure you feel.

And on top of that, these days, there’s an undeniable curiosity inside to identify your life’s purpose.

The entire world has seemingly shifted right under your feet, and you might feel ill-prepared for an uncertain future. You've tried just about everything to get all the parts of your life in sync.
So you don’t need another planner or another self-help book.

What you need is a system to help you design a fully integrated life, as well as the support that empowers you, so you can accelerate into your purpose, achieve your goals, and live fulfilled.

The same commitment you had on your journey into medicine and academia is the same kind of dedication you’ll need to change your life for the better.

AND THE TRUTH IS, YOU SIMPLY CAN’T AFFORD TO ONLY LOOK LIKE YOU HAVE IT ALL TOGETHER.
Doing so not only puts your own physical health and well-being at increased risk, it also slowly kills your soul.

As a health professional AND a Black woman, you’ve spent much of your life taking care of other people. Now? It’s time to prioritize you.

But, I’m willing to bet you’ve promised to give yourself more before. The main challenge is that you’re unclear on how to exactly.

One thing is for certain: You’ve paid your dues. Now it’s time to reap the rewards.

WELCOME TO THE

MELANIN & MEDICINE COLLECTIVE

CLARIFY YOUR VISION, GOALS AND A PLAN TO MAKE IT ALL HAPPEN.

Get clear on the things that mean the most to you, so you can prioritize them more in your life. Understand where your unique skillset, passion and purpose intersect and design a plan that works best for you.

CREATE BOUNDARIES AROUND YOUR TIME SO THAT YOU VALUE IT (AND SO THAT OTHERS DO, TOO)

Get equipped with the tools to identify a system that helps you experience work-life integration by strategically streamlining your life.

CONFIDENCE TO HAVE CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS

Women are often socialized to shy away from asking for what they want and need. Learn to tap into more of your power and effectively address complex issues you face internally and externally - like microaggressions, discrimination, self-sabotage and imposter syndrome - so they no longer rule your life.

MOVE FROM HUSTLING TO THRIVING BY WORKING SMARTER - NOT HARDER
Learn to become more comfortable tending to the whole woman, because hobbies, self-care relaxation and leisure are just as important as the work you do in medicine. Our holistic approach to life design will help you move from hustling to thriving

My name is Dr. Omolara Uwemedimo, a board-certified pediatrician, professor, researcher, entrepreneur & founder of Melanin & Medicine. For almost 2 decades, I’ve coached and provided strategy for dozens of Black women in healthcare.
After decades of "success" in medicine, I realized I paid a price- experiencing burnout and then an autoimmune disease. Now it has become my mission that we as Black women realize that success does not have to mean self-sacrifice and struggle.
What if there was a place where we could empower and guide each other on a path to discerning our purpose, prioritizing our personal and professional goals successfully, and designing a sustainable plan to make it all happen?
